I understand that sentiment especially with what a joke our government is but there are plenty of things we are happy the federal government regulates from food standards to keeping lead out of paint, gasoline, and applesauce. (Well they try. 😅) These bulbs are produced internationally so it really wouldn’t work or make sense to regulate bulbs at the state level. Some regulations really are important for at least letting people make informed decisions. Something else I left out of this video is that ANY COMPANY that makes less than 8 million dollars a year can apply for an exception from the new GSL ban. These laws are meant to demanded a better product from multimillion dollar companies that would prefer to sell us bulbs that burn out every six months if they were allowed to. The reptile lights got included in this ban by accident but ultimately this ban is about giving consumers better products that multimillion dollar companies otherwise would not provide us with. Once a month could be perfect for your boa. I usually feed Cleo on an every 2-3 week schedule but lately she has been extra active and alert on feeding days. (Maybe it’s the humidity and monsoon season? ) I feel bad not giving her food when I am feeding all the others and I know she smells it. So lately I’ve been thawing an extra rat for her. At her age I could definitely be feeding her a larger meal every 3-4 weeks though… With the exception of her brumating longer now that she is older. She becomes pretty dormant from December to March and won’t eat for those 3 months.

What are you talking about? They stayed put. When the rattlesnake was done and no longer occupied I just closed the boa tank. I was just yapping in the video. Go figure this short became my most viral post. 😅 but I do post my reptiles daily and promise I don’t actually rush their meals.

@herpinhippie When I was a kid, my Dad took us to Atlanta to a pet store, and we bought a female Columbian Red Tail. She was very small, not much bigger than an inch in diameter. I'm 55 now a kid then, so I forget how long she was. But we named her Babe and raised her up and loved her. We had her many years. We ended up moving out of state, and we're we was going they didn't allow any pets. They said certainly not a snake in the worries that it was an apartment complex and if it got out and all. So we sold her to a local pet store at about 7 and a half feet. The pet store put a not for sale sign and she became the stores pet. The last time I saw her years ago she was 12 foot. Healthy and loved. Eventually she became to much for the lady that owned the store. A zoo in Miami bought her. I was told for over 3 grand. The lady said she was 13 feet and almost as big around as a basketball when the zoo came to get her. I miss that's mustached lady lol

I recommend seeing if your town has a reptile sanctuary you can adopt from. Reptile shows come through most large cities and you can order a lot of reptiles online but I recommend looking for reptiles people are getting rid of. Many species can live 25+ years so there are always people rehomeing common species like: Ball pythons, red tail boas (less common), leopard geckos, tortoises, and iguanas. 🦎✌️
